The graceful weeping habit and dark burgundy foliage adds colour and form to any landscape. This small attractive tree bears white clusters of flowers in spring through to December. It has a beautiful weeping habit. Its foliage is probably the most spectacular feature as it has dark burgundy coloured leaves. The leaves are aromatic when crushed. Adaptable to a wide range of soil types providing they are well-drained including poor soils and those with a high pH value. Tolerates coastal exposure. Relatively pest and disease free. Performs best in locations receiving full sun, but can be grown in partial shade. May be affected by heavy frosts but mature trees generally recover well. Responds well to pruning.
